Choosing Your Egypt Tour
Our Egypt tour packages cover the country’s essential journey, Cairo and the Pyramids, Luxor and Aswan, and a cruise on the Nile, at three levels of comfort and in lengths from four days to two weeks. Every package includes private sightseeing with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees to the sites in the itinerary, hotels or cruise nights, and transfers, and many add Abu Simbel, Alexandria or a few days on the Red Sea.

How Long Should Your Egypt Tour Be?
- Four to six days. Cairo and Luxor, such as Anubis or King Treasure, or Cairo alone on Taste of Egypt.
- Eight to nine days. Cairo with a three- or four-night Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan, the most popular length for a first visit.
- Ten days. The same, plus Abu Simbel, Alexandria or two nights on the Red Sea.
- Eleven to fourteen days. A slower pace or more of the country, as on Timeless Egypt or the Royal Egypt Tour.

Nile Cruise or Hotels?
Most of our tours include a Nile cruise, which is the easiest way to see the temples between Luxor and Aswan: your hotel moves with you, meals are included, and the ship stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo on the way. A land-based tour, with hotels in Luxor and Aswan, suits travelers who prefer more space, a fixed base and a flexible daily plan. Are Domestic Flights Included in Our Egypt Tours?
Travel between Cairo and the south is always included, but how you travel depends on the package:

International flights to and from Egypt are not included in any of our packages. If you prefer to fly rather than take the train on a budget or classic tour, ask us and we will quote the difference.

Ending a tour on the beach is one of the best ways to see Egypt: temples and tombs first, then a few days to rest by the sea. These packages finish in Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh:

Adding Abu Simbel or Alexandria
- Abu Simbel. The temples of Ramses II are included on Cheops, Romantic Nile and Sun Ray, and can be added from Aswan to most other tours. See our Abu Simbel guide.
- Alexandria. Egypt’s Mediterranean city is included on Cleopatra, Alexander the Great and Ptolemy.

When to Travel
October to April is the main season, with warm days and comfortable evenings for sightseeing. From May to September our packages are priced a little lower, and early starts keep the days manageable. Christmas, New Year and Easter are the busiest weeks, so plan early for those dates. Our nine-day Cairo and Nile cruise tours cost from $1,250 per person on a budget package and $1,460 on a classic package, and our eight-day luxury Hathor tour costs $2,850, all in a double room from October to April.
How many days do I need for an Egypt tour?
Eight to ten days is ideal for a first visit, covering Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise. Four to six days is enough for Cairo and Luxor, and eleven to fourteen days allows a slower pace or the Red Sea.
Can I combine an Egypt tour with a beach holiday?
Yes. Several of our packages end with two nights on the Red Sea in Hurghada, Sahl Hasheesh or Sharm El Sheikh, from ISIS Dive at $1,044 per person to the luxury Nile Dream and Hatshepsut Dive at $3,290.
Is the sightseeing private?
Yes. On all our packages the sightseeing in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan is private, with an English-speaking guide and a private vehicle. A Nile cruise ship is shared with other guests.
Should I choose a Nile cruise or a land tour?
A cruise is the easiest way to see the temples between Luxor and Aswan, with meals included and stops at Edfu and Kom Ombo. A land tour with hotels suits travelers who prefer a fixed base and more space. Timeless Egypt is our main land-based tour.
What is the difference between budget, classic and luxury tours?
Mainly the hotels, the cruise ship and how you travel south. Budget tours use the Mamlouk Pyramids hotel and the La Sara cruise, classic tours the Hilton Pyramids and the Le Fayan, and both travel by sleeper train. Luxury tours use hotels such as the Marriott Mena House, ships such as the MayFlower, and domestic flights.
Can I add Abu Simbel to my tour?
Yes. Abu Simbel is included on Cheops, Romantic Nile and Sun Ray, and can be added from Aswan by air or by car to most other tours.
Do your tours depart on fixed dates?
No. Most of our packages depart daily, so you can start on the date that suits you. Cruise ships sail on set days, and we fit the itinerary around them.
Are your tours cheaper in summer?
Yes. From May to September most packages are priced a little lower than from October to April. It is hotter, especially in Luxor and Aswan, so sightseeing starts early.
Can I change a package itinerary?
Yes. We can add nights, swap hotels or ships, switch the train for flights or add extras. For larger changes, our tailor-made service designs the trip around you.
