A 14 day Egypt tour gives you time for the full ancient route, Cairo, Luxor, a Nile cruise and Aswan, and then several days of rest on the Red Sea, without early starts every morning. We publish two fixed two-week programs, both luxury and both ending in Sharm El Sheikh. For a two-week trip at another budget or with a different shape, we extend one of our 10 or 11 day tours through our tailor-made service.
This page compares the two programs, explains how the fourteen days are used, and shows honestly how to build a 2 week Egypt tour from a shorter package. For general itinerary ideas rather than bookable tours, see our Egypt travel guide.
| Tour | Days | Level | Route | On the Nile | Getting around | Red Sea | From, per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Egypt Tour | 14 | Luxury | Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Sharm El Sheikh | 4 nights, MayFair Nile Cruise, Luxor to Aswan | Domestic flights, Abu Simbel by air | 4 nights, Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh | $7,597* |

*The Royal Egypt Tour is listed as a starting price per person sharing a double room, with no separate summer rate. The family tour’s current rates are on its tour page. Both include a private English-speaking Egyptologist and entrance fees to the sites in the itinerary.
The first nine days are full sightseeing and the last four nights are almost entirely free. You start with three nights at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza, with Giza and Saqqara on one day and the Grand Egyptian Museum and Khan El Khalili on the next. A night at the Hilton Luxor Resort lets you see Luxor Temple in the evening before the cruise. The MayFair then sails four nights from Luxor to Aswan, with the West Bank, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Philae visited along the way. In Aswan you stay at the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract and fly to Abu Simbel, then continue to the Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh for the beach. This is the two week luxury Egypt holiday for travelers who want the classic sites at a five-star level and a proper rest before going home.
This program swaps the big cruise ship for a dahabiya, a traditional two-masted sailing boat carrying only a handful of cabins. Its size lets the crew tie up beside river islands for the night and pull in at the sandstone quarries of Gebel Silsileh, and the river days mix temple visits with swim stops and village walks. Cairo and Luxor come first, and Sharm El Sheikh comes last. It is built for families whose children need breaks between monuments, but it suits any traveler who wants a quieter river. Our dahabiya Nile cruise page explains this style of sailing, and our Egypt family tours page lists shorter options for families.
Not as a fixed package. Between our 11 day Timeless Egypt and the two 14 day programs we do not publish a 12 or 13 day tour, and we would rather say so than invent one. A 12 day trip is easy to arrange, though: take a 10 or 11 day tour and add one or two nights where you want them. The same method gives you two weeks at budget or classic level, since both fixed 14 day programs are luxury.
These are the tours most often used as a base, with their published price and what each one leaves room for. The extension is quoted separately through our tailor-made tours service, because the cost depends on the hotels and dates you choose.
| Base tour | Level | Already includes | Natural additions for two weeks | Base price, double, Oct–Apr |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cheops, 10 days | Budget | 4-night La Sara cruise, Abu Simbel, sleeper trains | Red Sea nights, Alexandria | $1,260 |
| Romantic Nile, 10 days | Classic | 4-night Le Fayan cruise, Abu Simbel, sleeper trains | Red Sea nights, Alexandria | $1,626 |
| Nile Legend, 10 days | Classic | 3-night Le Fayan cruise, Hurghada | More beach nights, Abu Simbel, Alexandria | $1,410 |
| Sun Ray, 10 days | Luxury | 4-night MS May Flower cruise, Abu Simbel, flights | Red Sea nights, Alexandria | $3,965 |
| Ptolemy, 10 days | Luxury | 3-night MS Mayflower cruise, Alexandria, flights | Abu Simbel, Red Sea nights | $3,390 |
| Timeless Egypt, 11 days | Luxury | Hotels in Luxor and Aswan, no cruise, flights | Red Sea nights, Abu Simbel | $4,800 (starting price) |
Our 10 day Egypt tours page compares all fifteen base tours in detail.
Two weeks leave space for sights that shorter trips skip. A day trip to Dendara and Abydos from Luxor adds two temples north of the usual circuit. A hot air balloon flight over the West Bank needs only one early morning. An extra night in Luxor or Aswan slows the pace, and a guided day in Alexandria adds the Greco-Roman city to the pharaonic story.
Timing can also shape a long trip. The sun shines directly into the inner sanctuary of Abu Simbel on 22 February and 22 October each year, and with two weeks it is easier to plan the route so you are in Aswan for one of those mornings. Our Abu Simbel guide covers the temples, and the best season to visit Egypt explains the weather month by month.
All our tours are private: your guide and vehicle are yours alone, and only the ship or hotel is shared with other guests. Delta Tours Egypt is a family-run company based in Cairo, arranging travel in Egypt since 1974, and our team is on WhatsApp throughout your trip. If two weeks is more than you can take, our 7 day Egypt tours cover the essentials in a week.

Chat on WhatsApp+20 109 002 1560The Royal Egypt Tour starts at $7,597 per person sharing a double room. For a lower budget, a two-week trip built on a 10 day tour such as Cheops ($1,260 per person, double, October to April) is quoted through our tailor-made service.
Not if the trip ends by the sea. Both of our 14 day programs finish in Sharm El Sheikh, so the second week is far lighter than the first.
Not as a fixed package. We build 12 day trips by adding nights to a 10 or 11 day tour, for example beach nights after Romantic Nile or Timeless Egypt.
A traditional Nile sailing boat, much smaller than a standard cruise ship, that can moor at quiet islands. On our family tour you spend five nights aboard one between Esna and Aswan.
Yes. Take a budget or classic base tour such as Cheops, Romantic Nile or Nile Legend and add Red Sea or Alexandria days. We quote the extension for your dates.
The Royal Egypt Tour does, with a flight from Aswan. The family itinerary does not list it, but we can add it on request.
Both 14 day programs end in Sharm El Sheikh on the Red Sea. The Royal Egypt Tour uses the Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh for four nights.
A private English-speaking Egyptologist on both programs, with entrance fees to the listed sites included.
