What You See From the Air

From above, the layout of ancient Thebes makes sense in a way it cannot from the ground: the green strip of farmland along the river, the line where it meets the desert, and the cliffs that hide the Valley of the Kings. The terraces of Hatshepsut’s temple stand out clearly against the rock.

Before You Book

Pickup is well before dawn, so plan an early night. Balloon flights depend on wind and visibility and can be postponed at short notice; booking early in your stay leaves room to try again on another morning. Wear layers, as the desert air is cold before sunrise even when the day turns hot, and closed shoes for the landing field. Bring a camera with a strap, as the best light comes in the first minutes after lift-off and both hands are useful in the basket.

The inclusions list private air-conditioned transfers, service charges and taxes. No site entry is needed for the flight itself; tips are extra.
