Why a half-day on the West Bank works

The West Bank holds the burial landscape of the New Kingdom, and it rewards an unhurried visit. Starting early means cooler air in the tombs and fewer people at the Valley of the Kings. From there it is a short drive to the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut under the Theban cliffs, with the two seated colossi of Amenhotep III as a final stop on the way back to the river. You are returned to your hotel or Nile cruise with the afternoon free.

Per-person rates are $90 each for a party of three, $110 each for two and $150 for a solo traveler. Entrance tickets do not appear in the published inclusions, so please confirm them when you book. The standard Valley of the Kings ticket gives access to a limited number of tombs; a few, including Tutankhamun’s, are sold separately, and your guide can suggest which tombs are open and worth choosing on the day.
