A 10 day Egypt tour covers the full classic route, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise, and still leaves two or three days for something more: Abu Simbel, Alexandria, the Red Sea or simply a free day before the flight home. We offer fifteen private tours of nine to eleven days, from $1,250 per person (double room, October to April) on a budget cruise package to luxury programs with Marriott Mena House and domestic flights.
Below, all fifteen are compared on one table, followed by how the days are usually divided and which version fits which kind of traveler. For informational itineraries you can follow on your own, see our Egypt travel guide.

Prices are per person sharing a double room from October to April, except Timeless Egypt, which is published as a single starting price. Triple, single and May to September rates are on each tour page, and most packages cost a little less in summer.
Almost every tour in the table follows the same frame: an arrival day in Cairo, a day at Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum, three or four nights on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, and a departure day. That takes six or seven days. What you do with the remaining three is what really separates one 10 day Egypt tour package from another:
The two nine-day tours, PTAH and King Tut, are the core route with a four-night cruise and nothing else added. Choose one of them if you have nine days and want the river at an easy pace.
Four-night sailings start in Luxor and travel upstream to Aswan, which gives you a slower river section with a full day for Luxor’s East and West Banks and time on deck between Edfu and Kom Ombo. Three-night sailings start in Aswan and go downstream to Luxor, freeing a day for the beach or Alexandria. If the cruise is the part of Egypt you are most looking forward to, a 10 day Cairo Nile cruise tour with four nights on board, such as King Tut, Romantic Nile or Sun Ray, will suit you better. Our hubs on the 4 night Nile cruise and the 3 night Nile cruise compare the ships.
Timeless Egypt is the exception: eleven days entirely on land, with three nights at a resort hotel in Luxor, two in Aswan, a private drive between them with a stop at Kom Ombo, and four full days in Cairo. It suits travelers who would rather have a large hotel room every night than a cabin. Our page on Egypt tours without a Nile cruise lists the other hotel-based options.
On budget and classic packages you travel between Cairo and the south on the first-class overnight sleeper train, with dinner and breakfast on board, which saves both a flight and a hotel night on each leg. HAPI and Nile Legend also use a bus of about four hours from Luxor to Hurghada and a bus back to Cairo, and King Tut Dive returns from Sharm El Sheikh by road. The luxury tours fly. The King Tut, Alexander the Great and Nile Legend pages all note that the train or bus can be upgraded to domestic flights on request, which is worth pricing if you prefer short travel days.
Ten days have some room for extras. A hot air balloon flight fits any morning in Luxor. A day trip to Dendara and Abydos from Luxor suits travelers who want temples beyond the usual circuit, and works best on a four-night cruise or Timeless Egypt. On Cheops, Romantic Nile and Sun Ray the Abu Simbel trip goes by road, and the Sun Ray page notes it can be upgraded to a short flight. Tours without Abu Simbel can add it from Aswan as Abu Simbel by air. If your list keeps growing, compare our 14 day Egypt tours, or go shorter with our 7 day Egypt tours.

For a first visit, yes. Ten days covers Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise, plus one extra such as Abu Simbel, Alexandria or the Red Sea.
Cheops on a budget, Romantic Nile at classic level and Sun Ray at luxury level. All three reach it from Aswan during a four-night cruise.
Yes. HAPI and Nile Legend end in Hurghada, Nile Dream at Sahl Hasheesh, and King Tut Dive and Hatshepsut Dive in Sharm El Sheikh.
Timeless Egypt is our closest option: eleven days on land with hotels in Luxor and Aswan, domestic flights and a private car between the two.
PTAH and King Tut keep to Cairo and a four-night cruise. The 10 day tours use the extra day for Abu Simbel, Alexandria, the beach or a free day.
Many of these tours list daily departures, PTAH, Cleopatra, Nile Legend, Ptolemy and Sun Ray among them. Send us your dates and we will confirm the cruise sailing that fits.
