This pyramids, Nile cruise and Red Sea tour is the value way to see Egypt in ten days: an overnight first-class sleeper train takes you from Cairo to Aswan, you spend three nights on the five-star MS Le Fayan sailing to Luxor, and a road transfer then brings you to the Hilton Plaza Resort in Hurghada. Entrance fees to the sites on the program are included.
Who it suits
The tour is designed for travelers who want the classic Egypt route and a beach finish at a lower price than our flight-based programs. You should be comfortable with a night on the train and long road legs. Families and friends traveling together can share triple rooms to bring the per person rate down further.
How the route works
Cairo sightseeing is concentrated in one day at the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. That evening you board the sleeper train, which saves both a hotel night and a flight, and you wake up in Aswan ready to join the ship. The cruise covers the High Dam and Philae, then Kom Ombo, Edfu, Karnak and Luxor Temple as you sail north. After the West Bank, with the Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut’s temple, you travel by air-conditioned bus to Hurghada, a drive of about four hours. The return to Cairo is also by bus. Both the train and the bus can be upgraded to domestic flights on request.

Where you stay
In Cairo you stay at the Hilton Pyramids Hotel. On the river, the MS Le Fayan is a five-star ship with full board. In Hurghada, the Hilton Plaza Resort runs on a soft all-inclusive basis, so ask which drinks are covered.
Prices by season
From October to April the per person rate is $1,280 in a triple room, $1,410 in a double, and $2,178 for one person traveling alone. From May to September it is $1,220 in a triple, $1,220 in a double and $2,100 traveling alone. Flight upgrades for the train or bus legs are priced separately.
What to add

Tour Itinerary
Welcome to Cairo. As you come off your flight at the airport, a representative of Delta Tours Egypt meets you and handles customs and formalities alongside you. A modern, air-conditioned vehicle takes you to your hotel without delay. Your tour guide and manager then join you to check the holiday programme and fix pick-up times for all excursions.

After breakfast, a friendly and knowledgeable Egyptologist joins you for a day exploring Cairo. You drive first to the Giza Plateau, home to the only ancient wonder of the world still standing. The three pyramids, belonging to Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus, were assembled from enormous blocks of stone and remain an astonishing human achievement. Beside them lies the Sphinx, with the body of a lion and the face of Chephren, long seen as the faithful guardian of the pharaohs’ land.
Next, the Grand Egyptian Museum gives you the chance to see more than 250,000 works of art covering some 5,000 years. Its star exhibit is the treasure of Tutankhamun, above all his solid gold mask. Afterwards you are taken to Cairo railway station to board the sleeper train to Aswan.
If you prefer a more comfortable journey, the sleeper train can be replaced by a domestic flight on request.

When the train pulls into Aswan, you are met at the railway station and transferred to your cruise ship for embarkation. Your first visit is the famous High Dam, an engineering marvel built in 1960 that supplies electricity and irrigation water to the whole of Egypt.
A short boat ride then brings you to Agilika Island and Philae Temple, which honours the goddess Isis and is made up of several shrines and sanctuaries. Afterwards you return to the Nile cruise for lunch, which is served on board, with an international buffet for dinner in the evening.

After breakfast, you tour Kom Ombo Temple, a double temple built for two gods. Its right-hand side belongs to Sobek, the crocodile god, and its left-hand side to Horus the Great, god of the sun and of war. Lunch is then taken back on your Nile cruise.
Next comes Edfu Temple, dedicated to Horus, which ranks as the best-preserved of all ancient temples. A continental buffet is served for dinner.

After breakfast, you are transferred to your cruise, where embarkation takes place. You then tour the Nile’s East Bank, visiting Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, which were once joined by a processional way of ram-headed sphinxes. Together they show why Luxor is often called the largest open-air museum on the planet and counted among its most important archaeological sites.
Lunch is served on board after you return to your Nile cruise. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Luxor and its markets.

Disembarkation from the cruise takes place after breakfast, and you then tour the West Bank. At the Valley of the Kings you see the burial chambers cut for pharaohs from the time of Thutmose I onward. You then visit the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon, a pair of giant statues.
Next, a modern air-conditioned bus takes you to Hurghada, a drive of about four hours. Hurghada is one of the best-known resorts along the Red Sea, and it draws water-sports enthusiasts from many countries. You are escorted to the all-inclusive hotel, where dinner is served in the evening.

After breakfast, you have a free day. Try water sports such as windsurfing, sailing or deep-sea fishing, or spend the time with your family at the beach, soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm water.

After breakfast, you check out of the hotel and have free time to explore Hurghada. You are then taken to Hurghada bus station for the journey back to Cairo. On arrival in Cairo, you transfer to your hotel.
