An Egypt honeymoon works best as a private trip with a slow middle: a few days of guided sightseeing in Cairo, then three to five nights on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, with time to do nothing at all. Every tour on this page uses private sightseeing with your own English-speaking guide, so the day follows your pace rather than a group’s, and each can be adjusted for a honeymoon with extra nights, a cabin or suite upgrade, or a few days on the Red Sea at the end.
Below you can compare the trips couples choose most often, see which way of traveling the Nile suits you, and plan the timing around Egypt’s seasons.
| Tour | Days | Route | Why couples pick it | From, per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Romantic Nile | 10 | Cairo, four-night Nile cruise, Abu Simbel | A slower cruise with free time between visits | $1,329 |
| Meroe Dahabiya | 6 | Esna to Aswan by sailing boat | A small boat with few cabins and quiet moorings | $3,500 |
| Oberoi Philae Nile Cruise | 5 | Luxor and Aswan | An ultra deluxe ship from Oberoi | $2,995 |
| Treasures of the Pharaohs | 7 | Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel | A luxury week that covers the major sites | $1,105 |
| Hatshepsut Dive | 10 | Cairo, Nile cruise, Sharm El Sheikh | Temples first, then Red Sea beach days | $3,160 |
| Best of Egypt | 7 | Cairo, Luxor, Aswan | Our highest-category week, with top hotels | $8,985 |
Prices are the starting rates shown on each tour page and depend on season, hotel or cabin category and room type. Send us your dates and we will quote the trip as a couple.
Cairo is busy and the big sites start early, so most couples enjoy the trip more when the river sits in the middle. On a ship or dahabiya you unpack once, sightseeing happens in the cooler morning or late afternoon, and the hours in between are yours on deck. A four-night cruise from Luxor gives more of that free time than a three-night cruise from Aswan.
A five-star ship gives you a pool, a larger choice of dining and a wider range of cabin and suite categories. A dahabiya carries only a handful of guests, sails rather than motors when the wind allows, and moors at quieter spots along the bank. If privacy matters more than facilities, a dahabiya is usually the better honeymoon choice. Our Nile cruise vs dahabiya guide compares the two in detail, and our ultra deluxe Nile cruises list the top ships.
Ending on the Red Sea turns a sightseeing trip into a holiday. Several of our tours finish with resort nights in Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada, and any itinerary can be extended. See our Egypt and Red Sea tours for the combinations we run.
Tell us it is your honeymoon when you enquire. We can suggest a cabin or room upgrade, an extra night where you want more time, or a private felucca sail on the Nile in Cairo, and we will build them into one quote before you book.
October to April is the most comfortable time for sightseeing in Upper Egypt, and the busiest. Late December and early January are the peak of the season, so book early if your wedding falls then. Summer trips are possible with early starts and a long midday rest, and the Red Sea stays warm enough for swimming for most of the year. Our month-by-month guide has the details.

Most couples enjoy a few days in Cairo followed by three to five nights on the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, and many add beach days on the Red Sea. Romantic Nile, a 10-day tour with a four-night cruise and Abu Simbel, is a good starting point.
Often, yes. A dahabiya carries only a few guests and moors at quieter spots, so it feels more private than a large ship. Our dahabiya cruises sail between Esna and Aswan and start from $3,500 per person.
It depends on length, season and how you travel. Starting prices on this page range from $1,105 per person for a 7-day luxury tour to $8,985 for our highest-category week. Send us your dates for an exact quote for two.
