Taste of Egypt is a 4 day Cairo tour built around three nights at the Hilton Pyramids Hotel and two full days of private guided sightseeing. It works as a short first look at Egypt, a stopover on a longer journey, or a Cairo prelude before a Nile cruise or a beach stay.
Two days, two sides of Cairo
The touring is split by era. The first day is pharaonic: the Giza pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum, where the Tutankhamun collection is the main draw. The second day moves forward in time, from the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization to Saladin’s Citadel, the churches and synagogue of Old Cairo and an evening wander in Khan el Khalili. That balance is the reason to book four days rather than a single pyramids excursion: you leave with a sense of the city as well as its monuments.

Price per person
From October to April the rate is $550 per person in a triple room and $580 per person sharing a double. From May to September it is $535 triple and $570 double. The rate for one person traveling alone appears in the price table on this page. International flights, the visa and tips are extra.
Easy ways to add a day
Arrival and departure days are mostly transfers, so a fourth night opens up real options. Popular choices are an Alexandria day trip, a morning at Saqqara and its step pyramid, or a same-day flight to Luxor. If you would rather see Upper Egypt properly, the Anubis 6-day tour adds Luxor by sleeper train.
Pacing and evenings
Both guided days begin after breakfast and include lunch, so your evenings are free. Most travelers rest after the Giza and museum day, which involves plenty of walking on uneven ground and through large galleries. The second day ends at Khan el Khalili, which makes dinner in the old city easy to arrange on your own. Pack comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen in any season, and bring modest clothing for the mosque visits at the Citadel and in Old Cairo. With only four days, an arrival flight that lands earlier in the day gives you a calmer start.

Once your flight lands, a Delta Tours Egypt representative meets you at Cairo airport and takes care of customs and the other formalities with you. Your hotel transfer follows at once, in a modern, air-conditioned car. At the hotel your tour guide and tour manager meet you to talk through the holiday itinerary and confirm the pick-up times for your tours.

Begin with breakfast, then join your friendly and expert Egyptologist for a day exploring Cairo. On the Giza plateau you see the one ancient wonder of the world, out of seven, that has survived. The three pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos tower here, impressive structures made from giant blocks of stone. Below them the Sphinx, the faithful guard of the pharaohs’ land, keeps its watch, a lion’s body with a face modelled on Chephren.
Your next stop is the Grand Egyptian Museum, where more than 250,000 artworks from across 5,000 years are on display. Pride of place goes to the treasures of Tutankhamun, and above all to his golden mask, made of solid gold.

After breakfast, the day opens at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. This was the first museum to focus on ancient Egypt, the oldest civilization in history, and it remains the only museum in the country that presents all of Egypt’s historical periods together. Its 50,000 artifacts cover everything from the prehistoric era up to the present day.
Afterwards you visit the Citadel of Saladin and its alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali. From there you go on to Old Cairo, which people call the religious compound because all of its sacred sites stand within easy walking distance. You can explore the Hanging Church, then the Ben Ezra Synagogue, and finally the mosque that ranks as the oldest in Africa, and indeed not only in Egypt.
In the later part of the afternoon you transfer to Khan el Khalili. Among the most memorable oriental markets, it is made up of many shops selling a wide choice of gold and silver jewelry.
