Our Cairo day tours are private: a car and driver for your party only, an English-speaking guide who meets you at your hotel, and a day that runs at your pace rather than a coach timetable. Below you will find what each Cairo tour covers, what it costs for one, two or three travelers, and how to combine them if you have one, two or three days in the city.

The Pyramids Day Tour is the shortest way to see Egypt’s most famous site properly: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Great Sphinx below them. With your own guide you can choose when to go, starting early before the heat and the tour buses, and how long to stay at each stop. Our guide to the Giza pyramids covers the site in depth.
If you have one full day in Cairo, this is the combination most guests choose. The Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids tour spends the morning at Giza and the afternoon at the museum, which stands close to the plateau and holds the largest collection of ancient Egyptian objects in the world, including the treasures of Tutankhamun. The museum is vast, so a private guide helps you focus on the galleries you most want to see. Read our Grand Egyptian Museum guide before you go.
The pyramids at Giza were not the first. South of Cairo, Saqqara has the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the earliest large stone building in Egypt, and Dahshur has the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, the experiments that led to the smooth-sided pyramid. Our All the Pyramids tour visits Giza, Saqqara and Dahshur in one day, and the sites south of the city are usually far quieter than Giza. See our guides to things to do in Saqqara and the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

Cairo is far more than the pyramids. The Old Cairo and Citadel tour visits the Citadel of Salah El Din on its hill above the city, the churches of Coptic Cairo, and ends in the lanes of the Khan el-Khalili bazaar. It is a good second day in the city, and a private guide makes the bazaar easier to enjoy at your own pace.
With a long layover at Cairo airport, the stopover tour collects you from the airport for the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and Khan el-Khalili, and brings you back in time for your flight. Tell us your arrival and departure times and your nationality, and we will check that the timing and the entry rules work for you.
Two short evening outings round off a day of sightseeing: the Sound and Light Show at the Pyramids, where the plateau and the Sphinx are lit as the story of the pharaohs is told, and a felucca sail on the Nile as the lights of the city come on.
