A tailor-made Egypt tour starts from your dates, the people you are travelling with and the things you want to see, not from a fixed departure. You tell us what matters; we design the route, choose the hotels and ships, arrange private guides and drivers, and send you a day-by-day proposal with a clear price. Nothing is booked until you are happy with it.
So yes, Egypt tours can be customized, almost completely. Below we explain how the planning works, what you can change, what a custom Egypt itinerary costs per day, how many days you need, and a few sample routes to start from.

When you design your own Egypt tour with us, almost every element is a choice rather than a fixed part of a package:
A few things are fixed by Egypt itself: site opening hours, the days each cruise ship departs from Luxor or Aswan, and the early start needed to reach Abu Simbel by road. We plan around these so that you do not have to.
| Tailor-made | Private package | Group tour | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Itinerary | Designed for you | Set route, private guiding | Set route |
| Start date | Any day | Most days | Fixed departures |
| Hotels and ships | Your choice | Named in the package | Named in the package |
| Who travels | Your party only | Your party only | Shared with others |
| Best for | Specific interests, longer trips, special occasions | A first visit on a proven route | Solo travelers on a tight budget |
In practice the line between the first two is soft. Every package on this page can be changed, and many of our tailor-made trips begin as one of our private Egypt tours with a few days added or swapped.
A custom Egypt tour costs roughly $125 to $175 per person per day at budget and classic level, and about $330 to $400 per day in luxury hotels and ships, based on our published packages in a double room from October to April. Those figures include accommodation or the cruise, private guided sightseeing, transfers, entrance fees in the itinerary and travel between cities.

Your own price depends on five things:
International flights, your Egypt visa and tips are not included in any of these figures.
| Trip length | What fits |
|---|---|
| 4 to 6 days | Cairo and Giza, plus Luxor by flight or sleeper train |
| 7 to 9 days | Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, with a three- or four-night Nile cruise |
| 10 to 12 days | The above, plus Abu Simbel, Alexandria or a few days on the Red Sea |
| 13 days or more | A slower pace, a dahabiya, the Western Desert, or Egypt in depth |
For a first visit, eight to ten days is the length most of our guests choose: enough for the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Luxor’s temples and tombs and a Nile cruise, without rushing.
The journeys on this page are complete itineraries with published prices, and each one is a good starting point for your own version:

At the top end, a bespoke Egypt holiday is about the details: a room facing the Pyramids, a suite on a small luxury ship such as the Oberoi Zahra, a private dahabiya charter, the quietest hours at the busiest sites, and an Egyptologist who shapes each visit around your interests. Our luxury Nile cruises page compares the ships, and our article on a private visit to the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx describes one of the special visits that can be added.

October to April is the most comfortable season for sightseeing, with warm days and cool evenings. Summer is hot in Luxor and Aswan, but early starts make it manageable and prices are lower. For the Christmas, New Year and Easter weeks, start planning three to six months ahead, because the best hotels and cabins are the first to go. Our guide to the best season to visit Egypt explains the weather month by month.

For October to April, two to three months ahead is usually enough. For Christmas, New Year and Easter, plan three to six months ahead, because the best hotels and cabins are booked first. Shorter notice is often possible, with a smaller choice of hotels and ships.
Four to six days covers Cairo and Luxor. Seven to nine days adds Aswan and a Nile cruise, and ten to twelve days leaves room for Abu Simbel, Alexandria or the Red Sea. Most first-time visitors choose eight to ten days.
A private tour follows a set route with your own guide and driver. A tailor-made tour is also private, but the route, hotels, length and pace are designed for you. Many of our tailor-made trips begin as a private package with a few changes.
Small changes, such as the timing of a visit or an extra stop, are usually easy because your guide and vehicle are private. Larger changes, such as moving hotel nights or flights, depend on availability and may change the price. Our team on WhatsApp will tell you what is possible.
Yes. Tell us the children’s ages and we will plan shorter sightseeing days, hotels with pools, activities such as a felucca sail, and if you wish a few days on the Red Sea at the end.
Yes, with some planning. Several sites involve uneven ground and steps, and not every Nile cruise ship has a lift. Tell us what you need and we will choose hotels, ships and visits that suit, and allow more time where it helps.
Yes. A cruise ship sails for three or four nights between Luxor and Aswan, while our dahabiya cruises sail for five nights from Esna to Aswan with a small number of guests. You can also skip the cruise and stay in hotels in Luxor and Aswan.
International flights, your Egypt entry visa, tips for guides, drivers and crew, drinks, meals not listed in the itinerary, and optional extras you did not ask us to include. Your proposal lists exactly what is and is not included.
Yes. We plan luxury trips with hotels such as the Marriott Mena House, the Four Seasons Nile Plaza and the Sofitel Legend Old Cataract, luxury ships such as the Oberoi Zahra, private Egyptologists throughout and special visits on request.
