Tour Overview

The Steigenberger Legacy Nile cruise is a full-board sailing between Luxor and Aswan, sold as 3 nights from Aswan or 4 nights from Luxor, with departures on Mondays and Fridays. It is one of our more affordable ultra deluxe Nile cruises, and the fare already covers guiding, transfers and site entrance fees.

Who the Legacy suits

This ship works well for couples and small families who want a polished five-star river experience without paying the top rates on the river. Life on board centers on the sun deck and a pool that looks straight out over the water, so the hours between temple visits are easy and unhurried. If a spa or a long list of suites matters to you, look at its fellow Steigenberger ship, the Steigenberger Royale, which shares the same fares in our price list.

Fares from September to May

Option Per person
3 nights from Aswan $910 triple, $990 double, $1,515 single (per person)
4 nights from Luxor $1,099 triple, $1,177 double, $1,826 single (per person)
Departures Monday and Friday
Board basis Full board on the ship
Entrance fees Included for the sites on the itinerary

Three nights or four?

The extra night costs $187 per person in a double cabin, and it buys a slower start. Sailing south from Luxor gives you more time at the big Theban sites such as Karnak and the Valley of the Kings before the river carries you past Edfu and Kom Ombo. The 3-night northbound trip from Aswan suits travelers who are already short on days, or who are joining the cruise to a Cairo stay.

What the fare covers

You are met at the airport, driven in a private air-conditioned vehicle, and guided by an English-speaking guide on private sightseeing in Luxor and Aswan. Meals on board, service charges and taxes are included. International flights, the Egyptian visa, optional excursions and tips are not.

When to sail

The fares above run from September to May, which matches the most comfortable months on the river. December and January bring cool mornings on deck and the busiest temples, while October, November, March and April balance warm days with thinner crowds. Pack a light layer for evenings on the sun deck in winter.

Most guests add two or three nights in Cairo for the pyramids, and a day trip to Abu Simbel fits naturally into the Aswan end. Read our Luxor to Aswan cruise guide to plan the details, or ask us to build the cruise into a tailor-made tour.
