This 5 day luxury Egypt tour covers the Giza pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and both banks of Luxor in four nights, with a private Egyptologist and a domestic flight in each direction. It is designed for short stays: a first look at Egypt, a stopover between other trips, or a few days added to a business visit to Cairo.

Who the trip suits

Five days is tight for Egypt, so this program concentrates on the two places that matter most to first-time visitors: Giza and ancient Thebes. It works for couples and small private groups who are comfortable with early starts. Guiding is private on every touring day, and all transfers are in private air-conditioned vehicles. The per-person price drops as the group grows, which makes it good value for families or friends traveling together.

How the days fit together

After an arrival day to settle in, one full day covers the Giza pyramids, the Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The next morning you fly to Luxor and go straight to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s temple and the Colossi of Memnon. The East Bank follows the next day at Karnak and Luxor Temple, then a flight returns you to Cairo, so your departure leaves from Cairo’s international airport.

Where you stay

In Cairo you stay at the Marriott Mena House, a historic hotel at the foot of the Giza plateau. In Luxor the night is at Al Moudira Hotel on the West Bank, close to the tombs you visit on arrival day. Staying on that side of the river suits the plan, since the West Bank is where your Luxor sightseeing begins.

What to add or change

With a second night in Luxor you could start the East Bank day with a sunrise hot air balloon flight. If you have one more day, the Jewels of Egypt 6-day journey adds Aswan and Abu Simbel. The cooler months from October to April are best for sightseeing in Luxor, though the tour runs on a daily departure basis all year.
