Tour Overview

The Al Hambra Nile cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan on 3-night and 4-night itineraries, with departures on Thursdays and Mondays. Its main draw is space: the ship has some of the largest suites on the river, marble bathrooms, and a spa spread over two levels with an indoor swimming pool.

What sets Al Hambra apart

Most Nile ships keep their only pool on the open sun deck, which is lovely in February and less inviting on a breezy December evening. Al Hambra adds an indoor pool inside its two-level spa, so a swim after a dusty morning at the temples does not depend on the weather. The big suites suit travelers who find standard river cabins tight, or who plan to spend afternoons resting on board rather than out on deck.

3 or 4 nights on board

From September to April, the 3-night cruise is $860 per person in a double cabin, $790 in a triple and $1,297 in a single. The 4-night sailing is $1,012 per person double, $934 triple and $1,552 single. The extra night adds roughly $150 per person when sharing, and on a ship where the suite and spa are half the appeal, that slower day on the water is usually worth having. Short on time? The 3-night option still links both cities with guided visits.

Who it suits

Couples marking an occasion, travelers who like room to unpack, and anyone who wants a spa session between sightseeing days. Touring in Luxor and Aswan runs as private tours with your own English-speaking guide, so you set the pace at each site rather than following a large group. The river between the two cities passes temples such as Edfu and Kom Ombo; the confirmed stops for your departure are given at booking.

What the fare covers

Meals on a full-board basis, airport meet and greet, private air-conditioned transfers, the guide, entrance fees for itinerary sites, and service charges and taxes. International flights, the Egypt visa, optional excursions and tips are not included.

Making it a longer trip

Al Hambra works well after a few nights in Cairo, or with an early flight from Aswan to Abu Simbel, which we arrange as an Abu Simbel trip by air. Compare it with the rest of our deluxe Nile cruises, browse all Nile river cruises, read the Luxor to Aswan cruise guide, or ask us to fold the sailing into a tailor-made Egypt tour.
