Tour Overview
This 5 day Cairo, Luxor and Abu Simbel tour uses domestic flights to fit Giza, the temples of Ramses II at Abu Simbel and Luxor’s West Bank and Karnak into one short private trip. It suits travelers with limited time who want the three headline areas of Egypt without overnight trains or a multi-night cruise.
Flying is what makes five days work
The inclusions list flights from Cairo to Aswan and from Luxor back to Cairo. That removes the two long overland legs that slow down most budget routes. From Aswan you continue by private air-conditioned vehicle to Abu Simbel, return to Aswan for the night, then move on to Luxor. Flight times decide the exact running order, so the sequence may shift slightly once your tickets are confirmed.
A full pace, by design
Days three and four are long. Abu Simbel is a substantial drive south of Aswan, and the Luxor day combines the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s temple, the Colossi of Memnon and Karnak. There is little unscheduled time between pickups, flights and hotel check-ins, so this package fits energetic travelers who want to see a lot, not those looking for a slow holiday.

What to confirm when you book
The published inclusions list only the domestic flights, so ask for the following to be set out in your quotation: hotel names, which meals are included beyond the dinners shown in Cairo, and entrance tickets, which are not listed in the published inclusions. Prices on this page vary with group size; request a current quote for your dates.
Ways to extend it
An extra day in Aswan adds Philae Temple and a felucca sail, and an extra Cairo day opens up Saqqara. With more time, swap the Aswan to Luxor leg for a short sailing; see our Nile river cruises.
Best months to go
October to April is the most comfortable window for Abu Simbel and Luxor, both very hot in summer, as our best season to visit Egypt guide explains. With two domestic flights in the plan, keep your luggage within airline allowances and expect flight times to set the start of some days. If you would prefer a slower pace, a package with a Nile cruise spreads the same southern sites over more days.
