Camel or Horse Ride at the Giza Pyramids: Sunrise or Sunset
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews
- Licence No. 121
Tour Overview
For centuries, travelers reached the pyramids on the back of a camel or a horse. This two-hour ride lets you follow that tradition at the quietest times of day, at sunrise or at sunset. You choose your animal and your time slot, and the plateau does the rest.
The route follows the desert edge of the Giza Plateau. From the saddle you get wide views across all three pyramids, often with few people in the frame. Early morning and late afternoon are cooler than midday, and the low sun gives soft, warm light that photographers love.
A horse ride feels quicker and more responsive, while a camel moves at a slower, swaying pace and sits higher above the sand. Both work for beginners. If you are unsure, the camel is usually the calmer choice for first-timers. The ride pairs well with a guided visit inside the pyramid site on another day.
