Tour Overview
The MS Mayfair Nile cruise gives you a clear choice of direction: board in Aswan for a 3-night sailing to Luxor, or board in Luxor for 4 nights to Aswan. This five-deck, five-star ship departs on Mondays and Fridays, and the fare includes full-board meals, private guided tours and entrance fees.
Upstream or downstream
Starting in Luxor gives you the longer trip and the slower build: the great temples of the east and west banks come first, then the ship heads south past Edfu and Kom Ombo to Aswan. Starting in Aswan suits travelers who arrive there from Abu Simbel or who want to finish in Luxor, where flights to Cairo are frequent. Neither is better, so choose by how the cruise links to the rest of your trip.
Mayfair rates, autumn to late spring
| Sailing | Triple, per person | Double, per person | Single, per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 nights from Aswan | $1,551 | $1,626 | $2,509 |
| 4 nights from Luxor | $1,925 | $2,011 | $3,140 |
June to August departures are not in the published fares; we quote them on request.
The ship
The Mayfair spreads over five decks, with public spaces designed for lounging and a large sun deck for the hours when the ship is under way. The tone is warm and unhurried, which suits couples, families with teenagers and first-time visitors who want comfort without a formal atmosphere. Because it sails into late May, it also works for travelers who want a spring cruise before the summer heat sets in.
Mayfair inclusions
Airport meet and greet, private air-conditioned transfers, full-board meals, private sightseeing in Luxor and Aswan with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees to the program’s sites, and service charges and taxes. You pay separately for international flights, your visa, optional tours and tips.
Making it part of a bigger trip
If you sail from Aswan, spend a day before boarding on our Abu Simbel trip by road. If you end in Luxor, the Luxor hot air balloon ride is an easy early-morning add-on. Read the Nile cruise guide for more on the route, compare the Mayfair with other ultra deluxe Nile cruises, or ask us to tailor a trip with Cairo at either end.
