Tour Overview
The MS Amwaj Living Stone Nile cruise sails between Luxor and Aswan on Mondays and Thursdays, with a 3-night trip from Aswan or a 4-night trip from Luxor. Its standout feature is the range of rooms: standard cabins, junior suites, executive suites and two royal suites, which makes it a good fit for families and groups who want different room types on one ship.
Room choice on the Amwaj
Few ships in our ultra deluxe range offer four levels of accommodation. A standard cabin is enough for most travelers, since you spend the days ashore or on deck. Junior and executive suites add room to spread out, and the two royal suites are worth asking about early for honeymoons or special occasions, because there are only two of them. The fares below are for cabins; suites are quoted on request.
Cabin fares, September to May
| Sailing | Triple | Double | Single |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 nights, starting in Aswan | $1,026 | $1,101 | $1,669 |
| 4 nights, starting in Luxor | $1,225 | $1,311 | $2,020 |
All figures are per person.
A newer ship on an old route
Amwaj is one of the more recent vessels on the river. The route itself has not changed in a century: from Luxor, ships sail south past Edfu and Kom Ombo to Aswan, and the 3-night version runs the same stretch in the other direction. Our Luxor to Aswan cruise guide explains what each stop offers.
What you pay for
Included: airport meet and greet, private air-conditioned transfers, full board, private guided sightseeing in Luxor and Aswan with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees to listed sites, service charges and taxes. Excluded: international flights, the visa, optional tours, extras and tipping.
Traveling as a group
Because the Amwaj mixes cabins with three grades of suite, a multi-generation family can book grandparents into a suite and keep everyone else in standard cabins on the same sailing. A triple cabin is the cheapest way for three people to travel, at $1,026 each for 3 nights. Tell us the group’s make-up and we will suggest the best combination of rooms.
The published season runs from September to May, when daytime temperatures in Luxor and Aswan are kinder for long days at the temples.
To add Cairo, a Luxor balloon flight or an Abu Simbel day, see our Nile river cruises or ask for a tailor-made plan.
