What you will see and do

A semi-submarine is a boat with a glass-walled cabin set below the waterline. You sit on this lower deck and look out through the windows as the boat moves slowly over the reef. Corals pass close to the glass, and reef fish swim right up to the windows. Because you stay dry and seated, you do not need to swim or dive to enjoy the view.

After the reef viewing, the boat stops so you can snorkel for about 30 minutes. This part is up to you. Confident swimmers can head out over the reef, while others can stay on board and watch from the deck.

Who this trip suits

This is one of the easiest ways to see Red Sea marine life. It works well for non-swimmers, older travelers and families with children, since the main part of the trip happens inside the cabin. Our driver collects you from your hotel in Marsa Alam in an air-conditioned vehicle and takes you to the boat. You climb down into the semi-submarine’s lower cabin, where large windows sit below the waterline. As the boat cruises over the reef, you watch the coral and fish from your seat.

Next comes a stop for snorkeling, which lasts about 30 minutes. You can join in or simply stay on board. When the trip ends, we drive you back to your hotel.
