Tour Overview
The Marsa Alam jeep safari is an afternoon trip by 4×4 into the Eastern Desert behind the coast. You visit a Bedouin village, ride a quad bike and a camel around sunset, and finish with a barbecue dinner before heading back to your hotel. It runs every day, and prices start from $69 per person.
What you will see and do
We collect you from your hotel in the afternoon in a Toyota 4×4. The drive covers about 22 km into the desert, with three stops on the way for photos and wide views over the Marsa Alam desert.
At the Bedouin village you get a short tour and a glass of Bedouin tea. Then the active part begins. Each guest has their own quad bike for about 40 minutes, and there is a camel ride as the sun goes down. A guide stays with the group while you are in the desert.
Dinner is a barbecue served with mineral water and soft drinks. Afterward, the jeep drives you back to your hotel.
Who this trip suits
This safari suits travelers who want to see the desert in one afternoon without much effort. The jeep covers the distance, so the quad ride is a short extra rather than the main event. If riding is what you want most, compare it with the sunset quad safari on our Marsa Alam excursions page, where you ride your own quad for the whole route.
Spending part of your holiday further north? The same style of outing runs as a 4×4 jeep safari to a Bedouin village from Hurghada. Our Red Sea Egypt travel guide covers the main resorts if you are still choosing where to stay.
