Hamata Islands Snorkeling Trip from Marsa Alam with Lunch

Tour Overview
The Hamata islands are a group of small islands in the protected waters south of Marsa Alam. On this day trip you sail out from Hamata marina, snorkel at three reef sites, spend time on a white-sand island and have lunch on the boat. It runs on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, from $85 per person.
What you will see and do
After hotel pickup, an air-conditioned vehicle brings you to Hamata marina, where the speedboat waits. The boat moves between the islands so you can snorkel at three separate reefs. The reefs here are largely untouched, with healthy coral and plenty of fish.
Between swims, the boat stops at one of the islands. You get time to walk on the white sand, rest in the sun or swim from the shore. There is also a chance to watch sea birds, so bring sunglasses. Lunch, mineral water and soft drinks are served on board before the boat returns to the marina and you are driven back to your hotel.
How it compares with other sea trips
This trip is about reefs and islands rather than dolphins. If dolphins are your main goal, look at our Satayh reef trip, which also leaves from Hamata, or the daily Dolphin House trip to Sha’ab Samadai. Non-swimmers may prefer the semi-submarine trip. On dry land you can choose the jeep safari, the sunset quad ride, or the Luxor day trip and Luxor overnight trip from Marsa Alam. See them all on our Marsa Alam excursions page.
Who this trip suits
It works well for couples and families who want a relaxed sea day with a beach break in the middle. You should be able to swim, because the snorkeling is from the boat. People who like birds or photography will enjoy the island stop.
