Tour Overview
Two sides of Egypt come together on this day trip south of Cairo. In the morning you stand before the Bent and Red Pyramids of Dahshur. Later you trade the desert for green fields on a working farm in the countryside.
Dahshur was a royal burial ground of the Fourth Dynasty king Sneferu. His Bent Pyramid changes angle partway up, while the Red Pyramid is often called the first true smooth-sided pyramid. An English-speaking Egyptologist explains how these early experiments shaped later pyramid building.
An afternoon on the farm
From Dahshur you head to a farm set among palm groves and orchards. Here you join hands-on food workshops with local hosts and walk through open farmland. Lunch is a traditional farm-to-table meal shared with local farmers. Soft drinks, mineral water, fresh fruit and dessert come with it, and there are five tea breaks through the day. Getting around may include an optional tuk-tuk ride, known locally as a tok tok. It is a fun, slow way to see village lanes up close.
The trip suits travelers who want more than monuments. It works well for families, food lovers and anyone curious about daily life in rural Egypt. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sun protection for the pyramid site and the fields.
Practical notes
The tour runs every day, with pickup and drop-off at your hotel in Cairo or Giza. Entrance fees to the Dahshur Pyramids, taxes and service charges are included. Personal expenses and tips are not. Prices start from $109 per person.
