Tour Overview

The MS Alexander the Great Nile cruise is one of the higher-priced ships among our ultra deluxe Nile cruises, sailing between Luxor and Aswan on Saturdays and Wednesdays. The 3-night trip from Aswan costs $1,401 per person in a double cabin from September to May, with full board, guiding and entrance fees included.

Is the higher fare worth it?

You pay more here for a calmer, more refined setting and attentive service, which matters most to travelers who see the cruise as the centerpiece of their holiday rather than a means of getting from Luxor to Aswan. If you mainly want comfortable transport between temples, a lower-priced ship in the same category will serve you well; our Nile river cruises page lists them side by side.

Midweek and weekend sailings

Departures on Saturdays and Wednesdays set this ship apart from the many that leave on Mondays and Fridays. That can be the deciding factor for travelers flying in at the end of the week. Share your arrival date and we will tell you which direction and length fit.

The fares in full

September to May Triple Double Single
3 nights from Aswan $1,326 $1,401 $2,149
4 nights from Luxor $1,625 $1,711 $2,660

Prices are per person. The fourth night adds $310 per person in a double cabin and gives you more time in Luxor, home to Karnak and Luxor Temple.

Included

Meet and greet at the airport, private air-conditioned transfers, full board on the ship, private guided sightseeing in Luxor and Aswan with an English-speaking guide, entrance fees to itinerary sites, service charges and taxes.

Not included

International flights, the Egyptian visa, optional tours, extras outside the program and tips.

The published fares cover September to May. Saturday departures are handy for travelers arriving on a Friday flight: one night in Luxor or Aswan, then straight onto the ship. Wednesday sailings fit well after a few days in Cairo. Either way, the airport meet and greet and private transfers in the fare mean you are collected and taken to the ship without arranging anything yourself.

The ship also anchors our Alexander the Great 10-day tour with Cairo and Alexandria. For other combinations, ask about tailor-made tours.
