Our budget Egypt tours cover the same essential journey as our more expensive packages, the Pyramids, Luxor and a Nile cruise, for a much lower price. The savings come from simpler hotels and the overnight sleeper train, not from the sightseeing: every tour includes a private English-speaking guide, entrance fees to the sites in the itinerary, and private transfers throughout.
Below we compare our affordable Egypt tour packages, explain how the sleeper train works, and show where the money goes so you know exactly what you are paying for.
| Tour | Days | Route | Double room | Triple room |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cairo and Alexandria | 4 | Cairo, Giza, Alexandria | $753 | $555 |

What does not change is the part of the trip that matters most: your guide is yours alone, the itinerary covers the same sites, and the entrance fees are paid. If you would like a little more comfort in Cairo and on the ship, our classic Egypt tours cost around $200 more per person.
The overnight sleeper train between Cairo and Luxor or Aswan is what keeps our budget tours affordable: it replaces both a hotel night and a domestic flight. Our tours use the first-class sleeping cars, with sleeping compartments, dinner and breakfast served on board, and arrival in Luxor or Aswan in the morning, ready for sightseeing. Transfers to and from the station are included at each end.
Many travelers enjoy the train as part of the adventure. If you would rather fly, ask us and we will quote the difference, or look at our luxury Egypt tours, which include domestic flights.
This is how Ptah, our most popular budget tour, fits together:
