Overnight Cairo Trip from Hurghada by Plane: Giza & Coptic Cairo
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews
- Licence No. 121
Tour Overview
Flying instead of driving changes the whole shape of a Cairo visit from Hurghada. This private two-day trip uses round-trip domestic flights, which saves the long road journey and leaves far more time for sightseeing.
The first day is devoted to the pharaohs. At Giza you see the Great Pyramid, the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple, then the Grand Egyptian Museum with its Tutankhamun collection. Saqqara follows, home to the Step Pyramid of Djoser, the oldest of Egypt’s large stone pyramids.
Day two covers the city’s later history. After the Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square, you climb to the Saladin Citadel, a medieval fortress, and enter the Mohamed Ali Mosque inside its walls. In Coptic Cairo you walk among Old Cairo’s historic churches, including the Hanging Church, before ending in Islamic Cairo on Al-Muizz Street and in Khan El Khalili Bazaar.
This trip suits travelers who want more than a quick photo stop at the Pyramids, and those who would rather not spend many hours on the highway. In two days you move from the age of the pharaohs to the Christian and Islamic quarters of the medieval city.
Planning notes
The trip is private, with your own air-conditioned vehicle and Egyptologist guide. Pickup and drop-off are from hotels in the Hurghada area.
