Private Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada with an Egyptologist
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews
- Licence No. 121
Tour Overview
Luxor stands on the site of ancient Thebes, the religious capital of Egypt during the New Kingdom. This private day tour brings you from Hurghada to four of its best-known monuments.
On the West Bank, pharaohs such as Tutankhamun and Ramses II were buried in the Valley of the Kings, in tombs cut deep into the hills. Nearby, Hatshepsut’s temple at Deir el-Bahari rises in terraces against the cliffs. It honors one of the few women to rule Egypt as pharaoh. The Colossi of Memnon, two seated statues of Amenhotep III, complete the West Bank visits.
After lunch, the day moves to the East Bank and Karnak, a vast temple complex dedicated mainly to the god Amun. Pharaohs added to it over about 2,000 years, and its Great Hypostyle Hall holds 134 giant columns.
How the Day Works
You are picked up from your hotel in the Hurghada area and travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle. A private Egyptologist joins you to explain each site and its history. Entrance fees for the listed sites are included, as are lunch, bottled water in the vehicle, taxes and service charges. Tips and extras outside the program are not covered.
This tour is a good match for travelers who want to see Egypt’s ancient heritage during a beach holiday. It is long, so it suits people comfortable with a full day of travel and walking. Bring a hat and sunscreen, as the West Bank sites have little shade.
