Private Car Day Trip to Cairo from Hurghada: Pyramids & Museums
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews
- Licence No. 121
Tour Overview
Many visitors stay on the Red Sea coast yet still want to stand in front of the Pyramids. This private car trip connects Hurghada with Giza and Cairo in a single day, then brings you back to your resort the same night.
The day starts on the Giza Plateau. The Great Pyramid was built for the pharaoh Khufu around 4,500 years ago and is the last surviving wonder of the ancient world. Nearby are the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple, where the king’s funeral rites are thought to have begun. Two museums follow. The Grand Egyptian Museum near the plateau houses the Tutankhamun collection, and the older Egyptian Museum on Tahrir Square has been open since 1902.
Because the car is private, only your own party rides in it, with a private Egyptologist guide for the day. That suits families with children, couples who prefer a quieter pace, and small groups of friends. Lunch is served at a restaurant in Cairo between the museum visits.
Before you book
Pickup and drop-off are from hotels in the Hurghada area. Cairo is a long road journey from the coast, so expect an early start and a late return. Wear comfortable shoes for the sand and stone at Giza, and bring a hat and sunscreen. Carry your passport or a copy, as ID is often checked on Egyptian highways. Shoulders and knees should be covered at religious and heritage sites.
