Tour Overview
Your cruise docks in Alexandria, but the Pyramids are in Giza. This private shore excursion links the two in a single day. It is built around your ship’s schedule, so you see Egypt’s most famous monuments and still get back on board in time.
An Egyptologist meets you at the cruise exit door of Alexandria Port. You travel together by private air-conditioned vehicle to the Giza plateau. There you stand beside the Great Pyramid, look up at the Great Sphinx and walk through the Valley Temple. That granite temple belonged to the pyramid complex of King Khafre and sits right next to the Sphinx.
Lunch is served at a local restaurant in Cairo. Afterward you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum near the plateau. It is the new home of the treasures of Tutankhamun, along with thousands of other objects from ancient Egypt. Your guide picks out the key pieces so the time inside is well spent.
Good to know
The tour runs every day and is fully private, with no other passengers in your vehicle. Pickup and drop-off are at the port, and your guide plans the day so you return to the ship on time. Entrance fees to the listed sites, lunch, bottled water and all taxes are covered. Tips and personal shopping are extra. Bring sun protection, a hat and comfortable shoes for the sand and stone at Giza. Have your passport or cruise card handy for the port exit.
The trip suits cruise passengers who have one day ashore and want the Pyramids rather than a city walk. Prices start from $275 per person. The rate per person drops as your group grows, from two up to six travelers.
