2-Day Cairo and Luxor Trip from Hurghada by Plane

Tour Overview
Most Red Sea visitors end up choosing between the pyramids and the temples of the south, since the two sit hundreds of kilometers apart. This private program from Hurghada takes in both by using domestic flights: you fly from Hurghada to Cairo on the first morning, then from Cairo to Luxor on the second, and return to the coast by road at the end.
Day one is spent in Giza and central Cairo. You see the pyramid complex, built for kings of the Fourth Dynasty around 4,500 years ago, together with the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple, then visit the Grand Egyptian Museum and, after lunch, the older Egyptian Museum in the city center. Day two moves to Luxor, the site of ancient Thebes, where you cover the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon and Karnak Temple, with a short boat ride on the Nile to lunch on an island.
Who this trip suits
The program fits travelers who are based in Hurghada for a beach holiday but want a full picture of ancient Egypt. It works well for couples, families and small groups who prefer their own guide and vehicle. Because the tour is private, the pace can follow your group rather than a shared bus. Two regions in two days is still a full schedule, with early starts and a good deal of walking at the sites.
Practical notes
Delta Tours Egypt collects you from your hotel in Hurghada for the airport and brings you back to it at the end of the second day. Carry your passport for the flights and hotel check-in, and tell us about any mobility needs or health conditions so we can plan around them.

Tour Itinerary
Early in the morning you are collected from your hotel in Hurghada and taken to the airport for the flight to Cairo. Your private Egyptologist guide meets you on arrival and the sightseeing begins straight away on the Giza Plateau.
Here you see the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest of the three main pyramids, followed by the Great Sphinx and the Valley Temple, where the funeral rites of the Old Kingdom kings were prepared. You then visit the Grand Egyptian Museum next to the plateau, whose galleries hold the full Tutankhamun collection and a towering statue of Ramses II.
Lunch is served at a restaurant overlooking the pyramids or the Nile. In the afternoon you head into central Cairo for the Egyptian Museum, open since 1902, before checking in at your 5-star hotel for the night.
After breakfast you check out and transfer to Cairo airport for the flight to Luxor. A representative and your guide meet you there with a private air-conditioned vehicle.
On the West Bank you enter the Valley of the Kings, burial ground of New Kingdom pharaohs, then continue to the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut and stop at the Colossi of Memnon, the two seated statues of Amenhotep III.
A short boat trip on the Nile takes you to lunch on an island. Afterwards you visit Karnak Temple, the vast complex dedicated to Amun, Mut and Khonsu. At the end of the tour you are driven back to your hotel in Hurghada.
