Tour Overview
The Eyaru is an upscale dahabiya, the classic Nile sailing boat that travels slowly and carries only a small group. Its week-long trip between Luxor and Aswan stops at each of the main river temples. A visit to Abu Simbel is part of the plan in both directions.
There are two directions. One trip sails from Luxor to Aswan, and the other from Aswan to Luxor. Both start on a Saturday and last eight days and seven nights, with one site or area set for each day of the week.
Temples and sites on the route
Sailing south from Luxor, you begin with Luxor Temple and Karnak, then the Valley of the Kings and the Colossi of Memnon. The boat calls at Esna, Edfu, Gebel el-Silsila and Kom Ombo. In Aswan you see the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple, and the trip ends with Abu Simbel. Heading north from Aswan, the order is reversed. That route also adds Kitchener’s Botanical Island, a Nubian village, the Valley of the Queens and the Temple of Hatshepsut.
The fare includes meet-and-assist service, deluxe air-conditioned transfers and full board on the boat. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available all day. Every excursion is led by an Egyptologist guide, and entry tickets to the sites between Luxor and Aswan are covered. Service charges and taxes are included, while the tipping kitty and extras are not.
The Eyaru suits travelers who want a full week on the Nile with a guide who knows the history in depth. It is a good fit for those who want Abu Simbel in the same trip. The fare is quoted on request, based on your dates and the cabin you choose. Share your travel dates with us, and we will check availability and send you a quote.
