Tour Overview
Cruise passengers docking at Ain Sokhna on the Gulf of Suez can use their day in port to see Giza and its new museum. This private shore excursion is planned around your ship’s schedule, so you see the main sights and get back on board in time.
Your Egyptologist guide meets you at Sokhna Port and travels with you to Cairo in a private air-conditioned vehicle. On the Giza plateau you see the three Pyramids of Giza, including the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the only survivor of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You then stand before the Great Sphinx and walk through the Valley Temple, a granite building linked to the pyramid of Khafre.
After lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo, you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum near the pyramids. Its collection includes the treasures of Tutankhamun, shown together in dedicated galleries. Your guide helps you focus on the key pieces in the time available.
Timing and practical notes
The excursion runs every day a ship is in port. Pickup and drop-off are at Sokhna Port, and the return is timed so you reach the ship before it sails. Bring your ship card and passport as your cruise line requires. Wear comfortable shoes and a hat, as Giza has little shade. Entrance fees, lunch and bottled water are included. The excursion is a full day with plenty of time in the vehicle, so it works best for guests who want the headline sights rather than a slow museum visit. Rates are per person and drop as your group grows.
Prices start from $179 per person.
