4-Day Cairo and Nile Cruise Tour from Hurghada
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews
- Licence No. 121
Tour Overview
This four-day program combines Egypt’s capital with a short sail down the Nile. You fly from Hurghada to Cairo, continue by air to Aswan, cruise north past Kom Ombo and Edfu, and finish in Luxor before a private drive back to the Red Sea.
The appeal lies in the contrast. Cairo is a city of more than 20 million people, and its western edge holds the Giza pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The river section is calmer. Between Aswan and Luxor, the Nile is lined with palm groves, farmland and Ptolemaic temples. Kom Ombo is known for its double temple, shared by the crocodile god Sobek and the falcon god Horus. Edfu has one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, also dedicated to Horus.
The trip suits travelers on a Hurghada holiday who want to see both the capital and the river in one go. It also works for first-time visitors who like a full program arranged for them. Four days is short for this much ground, so expect some early starts. In return, you see Giza, Aswan, two Ptolemaic temples and Luxor without planning any of the logistics yourself.
Practical notes
We transfer you from your hotel in the Hurghada area to the airport. Three nights are spent on a 5-star cruise ship, which you board in Aswan on the first evening, and an Egyptologist guide joins every excursion. Pack a light jacket for evenings on deck in winter, plus your passport.

Tour Itinerary
We transfer you from your hotel in the Hurghada area to the airport for the flight to Cairo. Your guide meets you on arrival.
At Giza you visit the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Great Sphinx and the granite-built Valley Temple. You continue to the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to the full collection of Tutankhamun’s burial goods.
After lunch at a restaurant with a view of the pyramids or the Nile, you tour the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo. You then fly from Cairo to Aswan and board your 5-star Nile cruise ship for dinner and the night.
After breakfast on board, your guide leads a tour of Aswan. The first stop is the High Dam, the 1960s barrier that created Lake Nasser.
Next is the Unfinished Obelisk, still attached to the bedrock of its ancient quarry, which shows how Egyptian masons cut granite. The tour ends at Philae Temple, the sanctuary of Isis on Agilkia Island.
You return to the ship for lunch and dinner, and spend the night on board.
Breakfast is served on board, and in the afternoon the ship sails north. The first stop is Kom Ombo Temple, a Ptolemaic building with two parallel sanctuaries for Sobek and Haroeris, a form of Horus.
The cruise continues to Edfu, where you visit the Temple of Horus, one of the most complete temples surviving from ancient Egypt. Its walls carry long inscriptions on ritual and myth.
The ship then sails on toward Luxor. Lunch and dinner are on board, and you spend the night on the cruise.
After breakfast you check out of the cruise and meet your guide for Luxor. On the west bank you visit the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon.
Lunch is at a local restaurant. The last visit is Karnak Temple on the east bank, the largest temple complex in Egypt, with its Hypostyle Hall and Avenue of Sphinxes.
A private air-conditioned vehicle then drives you back to your hotel in Hurghada.
