5-Day Nile Cruise from Hurghada, Luxor to Aswan
- 4.9 on Tripadvisor · 88 reviews

Tour Overview
A Nile cruise is the classic way to see Upper Egypt, and this five-day trip starts right from your Red Sea hotel. From Hurghada you drive to Luxor, then sail south past Edfu and Kom Ombo to Aswan, before a train and a road transfer bring you back to the coast.
The river between Luxor and Aswan has some of Egypt’s densest concentration of monuments. Luxor, once Thebes, holds Karnak and Luxor Temple on the east bank and the tombs of its kings on the west. Edfu’s Temple of Horus dates to the Ptolemaic period and remains largely intact. Kom Ombo’s temple stands on a bend of the river and is shared by two gods. Aswan closes the voyage with the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple.
A private Egyptologist guide accompanies you on the cruise excursions, so explanations are aimed at your party alone. That makes it a sensible choice for couples, families and anyone who likes to ask questions along the way. Five days also leaves room to enjoy the slower rhythm of river life between sites. Time on deck lets you watch farmers, fishing boats and mud-brick villages along banks that have been worked for thousands of years.
We pick you up from your hotel in the Hurghada area. Four nights are spent on a 5-star cruise ship. On the last morning you take the train from Aswan to Qena, where a car meets you for the drive back to Hurghada. Bring your passport, sun protection and modest clothing for temple visits.

Tour Itinerary
A private air-conditioned car collects you from your hotel in the Hurghada area for the drive to Luxor. There your Egyptologist guide meets you.
The first visit is Karnak Temple, the huge precinct of Amun built up over two millennia. You then check in to your 5-star cruise ship for lunch and some rest.
In the evening your guide takes you to Luxor Temple, which is lit after dark. Dinner and the night are on board.
After breakfast on board, your guide and a private air-conditioned vehicle take you to the west bank. You start in the Valley of the Kings, where New Kingdom pharaohs were buried in rock-cut tombs.
Next is the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut, built for one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs. The tour ends at the Colossi of Memnon, two seated statues of Amenhotep III that once stood before his mortuary temple.
You return to the ship for lunch, dinner and the night.
After breakfast, you visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, built under the Ptolemies between 237 and 57 BC and still almost complete.
Back on board, lunch is served as the ship sails south to Kom Ombo. There you tour the double temple of Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, Horus the Elder, with twin entrances, halls and sanctuaries.
Dinner and the night are on the cruise.
Following breakfast, your guide leads a tour of Aswan. You see the High Dam, built between 1960 and 1970, and the Unfinished Obelisk, abandoned in its quarry after a crack appeared in the stone.
The last site is Philae Temple, the sanctuary of Isis that was moved to Agilkia Island during the UNESCO Nubia campaign. You return to the ship for lunch, dinner and your final night on board.
After breakfast, you check out of the cruise and are driven to Aswan station for the train north to Qena.
On arrival in Qena, our driver meets you and takes you back to your hotel in Hurghada.
